The Top 10 Most-Forgotten Registry Items

Written on April 14, 2011 by Cody Whitefoord

You know to register for sheets, towels, cookware, kitchen gadgets and other essentials, but you don’t want to forget these surprising things. Here are 10 of the most-often forgotten registry items that brides and grooms say they wish they registered for, so that they didn’t have to spend their wedding money to buy them:

1. Trivets for hot platters and out-of-the-oven baking dishes when you’re hosting a dinner party or family holiday.

2. Filters for all of those purification machines – air purifiers, water purifiers, vacuums, and more.

3. Lots of pretty vases for holding all the flowers your hubby’s going to bring home to you; bud vases count in this category as well…it’s a pretty look to set one bud vase in front of each place setting to hold seasonal flowers.

4. Kitchen storage containers – the glass ones with the colorful tops lead the must-have list, to keep you safe from plastic leaching, stains and warped plastic containers down the road.

5. Coasters to keep your coffee table and end tables free of water rings; check out the organic ones made of cast sand and stone.

6. Magazine subscriptions, particularly travel, cooking, fitness and budget-saving magazines like Shop Smart. I asked brides which magazine they wanted most, and over 60% said Food Network Magazine, followed by Budget Travel.

7. Pedestal cake platter with a glass dome. It’s not just for displaying a cake at a party…it will keep rolls and muffins fresh in your kitchen, and make a pretty show of your home-baked cookies.

8. Glass pitchers for ice water, sangria, iced tea, lemonade and other cool drinks; sign on for several so that you can serve multiple quenchers at your parties.

9. A lapboard, so that you can sit on the couch and write those thank-you notes, work on your laptop, read a book, and more. I found a fabulous one at Barnes and Noble, and I use it all the time.

10. Organizing products. I saved the best for last, since these items including fabric-lined baskets, wire baskets, magazine holder, white boards, label-makers, colorful pens and sealable containers of all sizes make for a clutter-free, happier home.

These are just some of the most-often-forgotten registry items. Do you have any to add to the list? Post your suggestions here, and help your fellow brides register well!
